Jasper (he/him) grew up in Davis, California. The child of two parents working in wildlife conservation, he was drawn to the outdoors and a career in environmental science. After receiving an associate degree from Cabrillo College, Jasper graduated with a B.S. in human ecology from the University of Kent. There, he researched the intersection of climate change and immigration while also serving as the undergraduate representative for his college and the editor of the university’s student newspaper.
In 2019, drawn to working in immigration policy, Jasper moved to Washington, D.C., for an internship with the Migration Policy Institute. After several months in D.C., Jasper began working for the Atlantic Council, a foreign policy think tank. He focused on communications and events there, working as a stage manager, video producer, graphic designer, website editor, social media manager, and A.V. technician.
Jasper serves as Community Engagement Lead at Good Energy Collective, primarily focused on the Department of Energy’s Consent-Based Siting Process for the storage of the nation’s spent nuclear fuel. You will likely find Jasper rowing on the Potomac, cooking for friends, or hiking in Shenandoah National Park with his camera when he is not at work.
