On June 22, we joined several leading clean energy organizations in requesting that the Committees allocate an additional $3 million in FY 2025 for the EPA’s Office of Radiation and Indoor Air. This funding is essential for developing a new, technology-neutral, and internationally-aligned protection standard for future high-level nuclear waste disposal facilities, as authorized by the Nuclear Waste Policy Act of 1982, as amended. We stressed the importance of modernizing regulatory frameworks to ensure safety and environmental protection in line with global best practices.
