On Oct. 18, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor's Department of Nuclear Engineering & Radiological Sciences gave Good Energy Collective a 2022 Visionary Award. Good Energy received the award alongside fellow recipients ClearPath and Third Way. Since its founding in 2020, Good Energy has worked with allies to develop innovative policies that enable nuclear energy to help communities achieve cleaner air and meet climate goals while advancing just outcomes.
"Good Energy Collective has been an important new voice, advocating for the consideration of nuclear energy with a progressive voice, and an important partner to the University of Michigan as they have grown the Fastest Path to Zero Initiative,” said Todd Allen, founding director of the Fastest Path to Zero Initiative.
Nuclear Science Week is an annual international celebration that encompasses local, regional, and global perspectives on all aspects of nuclear science. UMichigan's Department of Nuclear Engineering & Radiological Sciences hosted the week of events this year. The Department also supports the work of the Fastest Path to Zero Initiative, an interdisciplinary team at the University that assists communities pursuing a zero-carbon future.
“We are deeply honored to have our work recognized in this way alongside ClearPath and Third Way. Increasingly, governments are seeing the immense role nuclear energy could play in helping them achieve a zero-carbon future and energy security,” said Jessica Lovering, Good Energy Collective’s executive director. “We hope our work will bolster this case by emphasizing the necessity of a just transition that uplifts community participation and expands access to the benefits of nuclear, while distributing the risks more equitably.”
